El De’ot — The God Who Knows

There is something both comforting and humbling about knowing that God sees everything — and understands it fully.

Not just what I do.

Not just what others see.

But what I carry quietly.

The thoughts I never say out loud.

The prayers I whisper when no one else is around.

The questions, the worries, the hope I’m still holding onto.

This is where the name El De’ot meets me — the God who knows.*l

He knows the truth behind my smile.

He knows the weight behind my silence.

He knows the strength it takes just to keep showing up some days.

And what comforts me most is that His knowledge isn’t distant or critical. It’s compassionate. He doesn’t know me to condemn me — He knows me to care for me.

There are times when I wish I could explain everything to God — why I feel the way I do, why certain things are hard, why some prayers matter so deeply. But El De’ot reminds me that I don’t have to explain anything.

He already knows.

Scripture reassures us:

Psalm 139:1–2 (NIV)

“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.”

There is peace in that kind of knowing.

It means I don’t have to perform.

I don’t have to pretend.

I don’t have to carry things alone.

El De’ot knows the road I’ve walked and the road ahead. He knows what I need before I ask. He knows the timing, the outcome, and the purpose.

Today, I want to rest in that truth — that nothing about my life is hidden from God, and nothing about my life is beyond His care.

1 Samuel 2:3 NIV
“Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the Lord is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed.”

What have you been carrying quietly?

Where do you feel misunderstood or unseen?

What would it look like to trust that God already knows?

As you breathe in, whisper: *l“You know me.”

As you breathe out, whisper: “I trust You.”

Reflection

Closing Prayer

El De’ot, God who knows,

Thank You for knowing me fully and loving me completely.

When I feel misunderstood or overwhelmed, remind me that You see the truth and hold every detail.

Help me release the need to explain everything and trust in Your wisdom and care.

Today, I rest in the comfort of being fully known by You.

Amen.
