Jehovah Shammah — The Lord Is There

After sitting with El Roi — the God who sees me — today my heart rests in Jehovah Shammahthe Lord is there.

And isn’t it such an amazing feeling when the world around you feels like it’s falling apart, yet knowing that our God is there makes everything feel right?

In those moments, nothing else seems to matter. The noise fades. The fear loosens its grip. The questions can wait. What anchors us isn’t that everything is suddenly fixed — it’s the simple, powerful truth that He is present.

Jehovah Shammah reminds me that God’s presence is not something I have to chase, earn, or perform my way into. He is already there — in the chaos, in the uncertainty, in the places I would never choose but still find myself standing.

There are times when I assume God’s nearness depends on how well I’m doing spiritually. When I feel strong, I sense Him easily. But when I’m tired, overwhelmed, or unsure, I can quietly wonder if He’s still close.

Jehovah Shammah answers that doubt.

God doesn’t step away when life gets messy.
He doesn’t withdraw when things feel out of control.
He doesn’t leave when I don’t have the right words.

He is there.

Not just in worship moments, but in ordinary days.
Not just in clarity, but in confusion.
Not just in victory, but in waiting.

Psalm 46 doesn’t say God helps us after the trouble passes. It says He is an ever-present help in trouble. Right in the middle of it. Right where we are.

Sometimes the greatest peace isn’t found in answers or outcomes, but in knowing that when everything else feels unstable, God’s presence is steady. When He is there, we are not undone. When He is near, we are not alone.

Today, I don’t need to search for God somewhere else. I want to live with an awareness that He is already here — right in the middle of this day, this season, this moment.

Psalm 46:1 NIV
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

Where does life feel like it’s unraveling right now?
What would change if you rested in the truth that God is already there?
How can you pause today and acknowledge His presence?

As you breathe in, whisper: “You are here.”
As you breathe out, whisper: “I am safe with You.”

Reflection

Closing Prayer

Jehovah Shammah,
When everything around us feels uncertain, thank You for being steady.

Help us rest in the truth that You are an ever-present help — not distant, not delayed, but here.
Quiet our fears, ground our hearts, and remind us that Your presence is enough.

Today, we choose to trust You —
not because everything is fixed,
but because You are here.
Amen.
