In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for Me wholeheartedly, you will find Me.”

No Time to Take Your Foot Off the Gas

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

I’ve been reminded of something important this week — and I’ll say it honestly, because it matters.

When the devil sees the Lord moving things around in your favor, he doesn’t usually come loudly or obviously. He pokes. He distracts. He delays. He looks for small openings — moments of tiredness, frustration, or discouragement — hoping you won’t notice what’s really happening.

And sometimes… without realizing it… we allow him.

I’ll admit it — I’m a little guilty of that this week.

Not because God stopped moving.

Not because the door closed.

But because I let distractions slow me down when I should have stayed focused. I let pressure pull my attention instead of pulling me deeper into prayer.

But not for long.

As a dear friend and sister reminded me: there is no time to take your foot off the gas.

When God is shifting things, resistance often increases. Not to defeat us — but to distract us. The enemy’s goal is delay. Confusion. Division. Anything that pulls us away from God’s plans and from the people we are meant to walk with.

We will face challenges.

We will face pressure.

We will face attempts to tear us apart and pull us off course.

And the truth is — there will be more attacks.

But this is not a reason to fear.

It’s a reason to increase the level.

Increase prayer.

Increase awareness.

Increase time in the Word.

Increase our dependence on God instead of our own strength.

Scripture reminds us:

James 4:7 (NIV)

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Resistance isn’t loud or dramatic. Sometimes it looks like staying disciplined when it would be easier to drift. Staying prayerful when you feel tired. Staying united when tension tries to creep in.

The devil may poke.

He may persist.

But he does not get to decide the outcome.

God does.

So today, I’m choosing not to be fooled.

Not to slow down.

Not to disengage when focus is required.

I’m choosing to stay alert, stay prayerful, and stay close to God — trusting that what He has started, He is faithful to complete.

Isaiah 54:17 (NIV)

“No weapon forged against you will prevail.”

1 Peter 5:8 NIV

Reflection

Where have you felt distraction or pressure as God has been moving?

What might the enemy be trying to delay rather than destroy?

How can you increase your level of prayer and focus today?

As you breathe in, whisper: “Stay alert.”

As you breathe out, whisper: “God is in control.”
