Elohim — My Creator, and the Way I Choose to Live
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
After sitting with the name Yahweh — the God who is — I’ve been drawn today to Elohim — the God who creates.
This name reminds me that God didn’t just exist before me — He intentionally formed me. Before I had direction, before I understood purpose, before I even knew how to ask the right questions, Elohim was already at work.
Nothing about my life is accidental.
That truth both comforts me and humbles me.
When I remember God as Elohim, I’m reminded that I am not self-made. I didn’t create my own breath, my own path, or my own strength. Everything I am and everything I have comes from Him. And that realization gently shifts the way I live.
Scripture says:
Genesis 1:27 (NIV)
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
Being created by Elohim means I belong — but it also means I’m entrusted.
I don’t own my life the way I sometimes think I do. I’ve been given it. My time. My abilities. My relationships. My influence — all of it is something I’m meant to steward, not control.
If I’m honest, there are moments when I forget this. I rush. I strive. I try to hold everything together as if it all depends on me. But remembering Elohim brings me back to my place — not in a diminishing way, but in a freeing one.
The earth doesn’t rest on my shoulders.
My life doesn’t have to be forced into shape.
Creation is held by God — and so am I.
Psalm 24:1 (NIV)
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”
When I remember Elohim, I’m reminded that God is still creating — still shaping things in my life that feel unfinished. He brings order where I see chaos. He works patiently where I want immediate results.
My part is not to rush ahead of Him, but to walk with Him.
Not to own everything, but to care for what He’s entrusted to me.
Not to strive for control, but to live with reverence and gratitude.
Today, I want to live remembering that I was created on purpose, for a purpose — by a God who is still at work.
Genesis 1:1 NIV
Reflection
Where do you feel pressure to control instead of trust?
What has God entrusted to you that you’re called to steward faithfully?
How does remembering Elohim reshape the way you see your life today?
As you breathe in, whisper: “You are my Creator.”
As you breathe out, whisper: “I trust Your design.”
Closing Prayer
Elohim, my Creator,
Thank You for forming me with intention and care.
Help me remember that my life is a gift, not a burden to carry alone.
Teach me to steward what You’ve entrusted to me with humility and gratitude.
When I rush or strive, remind me that You are still creating and shaping my path.
Today, I choose to walk gently within what You have made,
trusting You as my Creator and resting in Your care.
Amen.
